Wow, I haven't updated in a while.. Let me fill those who are interested in on what I've been up to this summer..

For the past summer I've been working at Schlitterbahn as a lifeguard. I think it's really fun; I have a blast whenever I get put at kiddie locations. I also get to smile and talk loud to people a lot without everyone thinking I'm some kind of spazz... Whenever I'm at school I try to stay quite, and serious in an attempt to keep focused on work. But at Schlitterbahn I can be as distracted and annoyingly talkative as I want to be!
Other staff members there are extremely nice, (most of the time), so it's easy to talk to someone if you have a question. And my bosses (supervisors and leads) always make work fun. I don't know, maybe when I work another year I'll think differently about being there. Unlikely.

Hmm, I guess while I'm typing and have NOTHING to do; I'll just let some of you know who I really am. At home and with friends I like to be called Katie. But my whole name is Katheryn Elizabeth Carrell. I am the second oldest of nine kids. Two of which live with me 24/7. The other six are with my dad and step-mom in Dallas; their ages range from 15 to 1 1/2. I love to go visit them for a month or two every summer and on holidays. I don't know, I guess I just really love the craziness of a bunch of kids. Sure I have to do a lot of cleaning and babysitting, but that's okay with me; when I'm in the right mood I could clean an entire house spotless and still look for more mess. And all my experiences there have somewhat prepared me for my future family.
Yep, when I get through college and have established a good stable medical career somewhere, I plan to try and have at least five kiddos. I want to be a good mother who can support her family, like my mom. Meh, I'll probably end up marrying a stay at home dad/artist or writer of some kind... I don't know.

Other than small children I enjoy art, acting, reading, swimming, all kinds of music, cartoons (I'll never grow up), writing from time to time, funny people, nature, taking my time when I walk to look around, fruit, sea food, my big family, artistic individuals, and video games. (wow, I'm pretty much your grade A nerd/dork)

I really dislike people who are rude to strangers, people who are mean about the # of times I sneeze (at least five each time), letterers, porn, sexist movies, strangers in their cars who don't wave back, depressed people, dried seaweed, and scientologists (I'm sorry, but that's so ridiculous!),

I'm not very religious; I believe there is a god(ess), but not how the Bible describes him/her. I believe in evolution and the big boom. Though I do respect other's beliefs; scientologists I just can't understand... A little pet peeve of mine is when people I know (coughcristianscough) like to poke fun at my beliefs by blurting out something like, "You really think that we came from MONKEYS!? Hark hark hark!"
Monkeys and primates are different, people... Please don't be stupid if you want to try and question someone. Monkeys are kind of like human's cousins; not literally of course...

Wow, I really started to rant for a second there... I'm tired so I'm done typing for now. G'night.

Yup, I went through the life guarding class with my brother Josh, our "stepbrother" James, and my good friend Samantha. We had two whole days of being in our swimsuits learning CPR, AR, and chest compressions.. We also learned the Heimlic(sp?) and other medical procedures; along with how to use equipment and junk like that. When tests cames around they put us in random groups. Josh, James, and Sam passed; I did not.. NO WORRIES! I just go back next week and take the test again, I think I get four tries. But now let me explain how it is that I failed.

Ahem, first off.. My group had four ppl; two other girls and a boy. There was this one girl who pretty much had the stuff down; her and I were the strong ones in my group; her strongest. (I had studied the night before) The other girl and boy still didn't quite get anything. So before we started we tried going through everything we had learned.

First we had to save a passive baby. The instructer called us up to him while he was standing next to another group who had already started on a different scenario. I had no idea the baby thing was coming..(hehe, I thought he was prepping us up to follow the next group. I almost stepped ON the baby) He splits our group in half putting me with the stronger girl and simply points down at the baby and says, "There's your victim."
I panicked; I remembered to survey the scene, but forgot my gloves... None of us put our fingers on the right pressure piont to find a pulse, and we messed up our ratios. So we failed that one.

The second scene didn't go much better.. We were all disapointed about our first loss and were getting pretty nervous. This time we had to save a pretty large woman from the water. I was posted on equipment; meaning I had to get the air and CPR machine stuff together. The boy and strong girl got the victim out of the water and on to dry land. But the weaker girl was put on first guard; meaning she had to actually DO everything concerning the victim's ABC's (Airway, Breathing, Circulation). She didn't open a proper airway, and didn't hold the breather majig to the victims face right... So when the instructer decided to pull her out that left three of us, and I acidentally cept getting the CPR machine out when I should have taken over chest compressions. So we failed that one.

Edit:

Okay.. The last scenario went the worst. The strong girl was put on main guard for the water, I was put on equipment again, and the weak girl was put on main guard on land.
First off the woman in the water was consious(sp?), and complained of some kind of arm injury...
When the strong girl jumped into the pool, she made the mistake of calling for a back board and jump kit, even though thhe victim was not passive... Then when she got there she failed to actually ask the victim what was wrong, and assumed it was a broken arm. We got her on land and she passed out. So while the weaker girl was freakin out the strong girl jumped in and took over her position. So then she failed to check the victims pulse properly and thought that her pulse had stopped. So we basically shocked a live victim in the chest... o_o;
When the whole fiasco finished the victim got up and told us what we did wrong. She told us that if we had asked her in the first place what was wrong, she would have told us that she simply had a bee sting. In that case we should have let her get out of the water herself (with assistance) and scraped it off with one of our i.d. cards, then followed with a bag if ice... So we failed that one.

I'm pretty sure the stronger girl wants to stab me in the chest right now, but in the end she was allowed one more try with another group and passed. So I'll go to classes agian and refresh all that was taught to me. And I won't near as nervous when thhe next test comes around because I'll have an idea of what's coming. So I'm pretty happy. ^__^

It is true, my current money issues have *ahem* hindered me from submitting any of my new Avatar artwork... (which is ashame, because I think I've majorly improved) But that is no excuse for not updating my journal at LEAST! So I find myself once again apologizing. I will try harder to get artwork in! ^_^

On a more personal update==>
The whole job at the ice cream thing didn't work out... I got a call-back, but I made a big mistake when I gave them my cell #; I never check the messages.... So as my mom tells me that that little blinking light means that I have numerous missed calls and messages on my cell, I realize that they called over two weeks ago from then. So hahahar to me.
Soooooo I applied online for a lifguard job at Schlitterbahn water park. Which is cool, because I'll be going in to an interveiw and possible training here soon. And I will get so much sun I'll look like Katara by the end of the summer! HAHA! It's also like, 15-20 minutes away from where I live, so i wont have to drive very far..
Still working on that little comic thing I breifly mentioned in a previous journal entry, I like how it's going so far...

I just want everone to know.... Zuko has great hair; he looks gooood...
And I'm so glad I taped the episode, because I loved it! Even though this is wierd.. I really fell in love with that old man who yelled out something like, "GIVE HIM A LEFT! A LEFT!" That line of his sends me rolling on the floor every time...

Gah! Today I went to get an application for a job at BASKIN ROBINS!! If I get this job.... it. would. be. so. awesome....! Not only would I be surrounded by icecream, *harhar* but I'll get to act as cheery as possible and only a select few would think I'm crazy!

Oh, I'm so excited... But I suppose I shouldn't get my hopes up.. *getting her hopes up* ^o^
I'm also glad to think that I'll finally become an active member of society... pfft..

Wow, I have been on vcation and have been without internet for some time now...

I do owe and apologie to some one for not being able to get my reviews into them ontime...
And to those who don't get replies if they sent me a mesage or just simply favorited something, I came back to a crap load of messages and I only quickly went through them.

It's also been a while since I've been able to scan any paper drawn art... So when we finally get the scanner fixed, there will be an art EXPLOSION! Avatar and other mics. stuff.
